Summer School

Reasons to attend summer school:

  • High school student needs to repeat failed course
  • High school senior needs course for graduation
  • High school student needs to improve G.P.A.
Summer School will be in session from Thursday, June 21, through Friday, July 27. Classes will not be held on July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Students may enroll in only one summer school class. Transportation must be provided by the parent/guardian. Meals/snacks will not be served.

A Summer School Handbook will be provided to each student on the first day of class. It is the responsibility of the parent and student to carefully read the rules and procedures. Parents and students must sign the form indicating that they understand the rules and agree to abide by them.

Driver Education

SignUpGenius logoDriver Education courses will be taught at Poca High School this summer beginning on June 21 and running through July 27 (Monday to Friday).  

The course is offered two times: 8:00-10:30 AM and 10:30 AM-1:00 PM.  

There is no charge for the courses, however parents must arrange transportation to Poca High School for their children.  Each course is limited to 40 students and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

According to policy, student must be at least 15 years of age and currently enrolled in Putnam County Schools to attend.    
  • To receive 1/2 credit for the course, students must attend all 29 days of class.
  • Meals will not be provided.
  • If more than 80 students sign-up, a wait list will be created. If a spot opens, wait listed students will be called in order of sign-up.

Proof of Enrollment

Students who become eligible for driver's licenses or learner's permits during the summer must complete the Proof of Enrollment Application at least two weeks prior to the end of school.  All forms must be dropped off and picked up at the student's home school.  Click here for the application.
