Sophie Slack Grand Marshal for the NDSS Buddy Walk

Sophie Slack, a Junior at Hurricane High, will be honored as a Grand Marshal for the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) New York City Buddy Walk on Saturday, September 18, 2021.

The event will attract families and supporters across the country who will participate virtually this year due to the ongoing pandemic. In addition, the event will promote the value, acceptance, and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

As one of two grand marshals, Sophie will be featured in the New York City Buddy Walk kick-off video at 10:30 ET on Saturday the 18th. It will be streamed to the National Down Syndrome Society Facebook Page and YouTube channel.

The kick-off video immediately follows the annual NDSS Times Square Video presentation, which will be streamed from 9:30-10:30 ET. The presentation includes photos of 500 individuals with Down syndrome representing all 50 states. Sophie’s photo will be among the images projected on Jumbotron screens in the heart of Times Square, thanks to the support of ClearChannel Outdoor.
