NBCT Recognition Celebration

The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) recognized 153 West Virginia educators on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, as part of the annual National Board Certification Recognition Celebration. The ceremony included 39 newly National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs), three from Putnam, and 114 teachers, including nine Putnam educators, that maintained or renewed their certification in 2022.

Congratulations to Putnam County Schools' newest NBCTs, Ashley Ellison, Joshua Issacs, and Kristina Richardson!

Congratulations to the following Putnam NBCTs on maintaining their certification (renewals); Megan Barber, Tamatha Bock, Abby Waldorf Broome, Jo Ella Engel, Amber J. Lafferty, Chastity Miller, Marjorie McPherson, Maureen Miller, and Courtney Ruppert!

Certification symbolizes accomplished practice beyond licensure and is one of the profession's highest achievements. It is a voluntary and rigorous process created for teachers by teachers. Certification is comprised of four components which include content knowledge, differentiation in instruction, teaching practice and learning environment, and effective/reflective practice.

Putnam County Schools is so proud of all our Putnam NBCTs. Congratulations! We thank you for your hard work, commitment, and dedication to excellence in the classroom.
