PCS DII SEF

STATE-LEVEL

The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) hosted nearly 300 students at the 2024 West Virginia Science and Engineering Fair (WVSEF) at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on Monday, March 4, 2024. Students from across the state presented more than 200 exhibits, including Putnam County Schools County and Regional Winners Rylee Fauber (Winfield Middle), Maddox Eisel and Thea Henson (Poca Middle), and Pryce Dejneka and Bryce Sandt (Poca Middle). 

Congratulations to Putnam County Schools Science & Engineering Fair, Division II, Behavioral & Social Sciences Winners, Poca Middle 6th Graders, Pryce Dejneka and Bryce Sandt, on winning  3rd place at the WVSEF for their project "Testing Behavioral Incentives!"

Congratulations to all student participants on their tremendous academic accomplishments.

REGIONAL-LEVEL

On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, County Winners of the Putnam County Division II Science & Engineering Fair (SEF) participated in the WV Region III Division II SEF at Coonskin Park Clubhouse. Regional Winners will advance to the 2024 West Virginia Science & Engineering Fair (WVSEF) on March 4, 2024, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

On Thursday, January 18, 2024, Putnam County Schools hosted the Division II Science & Engineering Fair. Congratulations to all student participants and our 2024 Champions and Runners-Up!

Sixth grader Abigail Toney won the “Best of Fair” award for wowing the judges with her creative project topic, research, and enthusiasm!

County Category Champions will advance to the Region III Science & Engineering Fair hosted at Coonskin Park Clubhouse on February 6, 2024. Winners at the regional level will advance to the 2024 West Virginia Science & Engineering Fair (WVSEF) on March 4, 2024, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. 

A very special thank you to our guest judges: Bryce Mcelvogue (Terracon), Allen Davis (FBI), PE McClanahan and Dawn Gessel (Putnam County Schools), Cheryll Roberts (Putnam Career & Technical Center), and engineering student judges from Putnam Career & Technical Center, Sam Edgemon, Cole Richardson, and Nicholas Winter. The Science & Engineering Fair would not be possible without the help of our volunteers! We are grateful for their dedicated time and support in honoring our student participants' academic achievements.
