Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Allison Clendenin
Fourth Grade Teacher, George Washington Elementary
This week, we are proud to spotlight one of our incredible educators, Mrs. Allison Clendenin, who teaches 4th grade here at George Washington Elementary. A life-long resident of Putnam County and a proud product of Putnam County Schools, Mrs. Clendenin brings heart, experience, and deep community roots to her classroom every day. She lives right here in Eleanor with her husband, two children, and their two Labrador retrievers.
Mrs. Clendenin’s journey to becoming a teacher began in the first grade, where the care and inspiration she received from her teacher, Mrs. Summerfield, sparked a lifelong passion for education. “I wanted to be just like her—not just a teacher, but a guide, a listener, and a source of encouragement,” she shared. Today, that same spark is alive in Mrs. Clendenin’s classroom, where she creates a space where students feel valued, safe, and challenged to grow both academically and personally.
Her favorite part of teaching? Those unforgettable “aha” moments. “It’s in that instant—the spark in their eyes, the shift in their expression—that all the effort feels incredibly worthwhile,” she says. Moments like these continue to fuel her love for teaching and remind her why she chose this path.
Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Clendenin enjoys time with her family and being her children's biggest cheerleader—often seen shuttling them to sports practices and games. She also loves reading on her back porch, baking treats in the kitchen, and planning her next trip to Walt Disney World—her “happy place.”
We are so thankful to have Mrs. Clendenin as part of our school family. Her passion for teaching and love for our community shine in all she does!
