Putnam County Schools Virtual School Program

Putnam County Schools has partnered with Stride to provide a full-time virtual learning option for students in grades K-12 who are enrolled in a Putnam County school. Virtual learning is not recommended for students in grades K-5. The virtual program offered through Stride is rigorous and requires daily independent work from students with a 6- to 7-hour time commitment each day.

Student Eligibility and Requirements

 Grades K-5

Students in grades K-5 who meet the following requirements are eligible to participate in the virtual education program if:

  1. the student is currently enrolled in the Putnam County Schools virtual option, or

  2. the student attended in person learning at a Putnam County Schools elementary school the previous semester.

 Families are required to:

3. indicate intent to enroll as a virtual program student by:

  • August 1, 2023, for first semester. (Registration window will open June 1, 2023)

  • December 20, 2023, for second semester. (Registration window will open December 1, 2023)

  1. successfully complete an LEA (Local Education Agency) defined virtual education orientation session.

  2. maintain up-to-date records and enrollment data such as immunizations, physicals, and dental exams.

  3. ensure student maintains a minimum grade of seventy (70) percent on a numerical grade scale in courses taken during the current academic year.

  4. provide access to a consistent, daily internet service.

  5. respond to school communications within 24 hours Monday through Friday via Office365 email account, via phone to the Director of Technology at 304-586-0500 ext. 1162.

Grades 6-12

Students in grades 6-12 who meet the following requirements are eligible to participate in the virtual education program if:

  1. the student is currently enrolled in a Putnam County middle school or high school.

 Families are required to:

  • December 20, 2023, for second semester. (Registration window will open December 1, 2023)

Please review the Putnam County Schools Virtual School Guidelines and Procedures carefully to determine if the virtual option is the correct choice for your student.

Virtual class selections are limited to classes normally offered at the student's home school. Performing arts classes such as choir, show choir, and band are not available through the virtual program. Advanced placement (AP) courses and honors courses are available to high school students; however, dual credit college courses are not available through the virtual program.
