🎉We are excited to welcome Lynda Rumbaugh as our new Director of Middle School Curriculum and County Test Coordinator!
For 36 years, Lynda has dedicated her career to Putnam County Schools, helping students learn, grow, and succeed. A proud product of our school system herself, she understands firsthand the value of public education and the strong sense of community that makes Putnam County special.
Lynda is passionate about supporting middle school students during a time of tremendous growth and change, and we know her experience, leadership, and heart for education will be a tremendous asset to our schools.
When she's not working with students and educators, Lynda enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband Joe, their children and grandson, reading by the water, and cheering on the Mountaineers!
Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Lynda in her new role! 🎉💙

We want to recognize these amazing 1st graders at Rock Branch Elementary for achieving 100% Fact Fluency in Addition and Subtraction on Reflex!
This is no small accomplishment—especially for 1st graders! Their hard work, dedication, and determination truly shine, and we couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them. 💪📚
Way to go, RBE! Keep up the fantastic work! 🌟

Under the direction of Mr. Skiles, students, teachers, and families traveled to historic sites in Charlottesville, VA, connecting their visit to the choir’s spring presentation of “The Dawn of Liberty.”
During the trip, students:
Toured Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello
Visited the University of Virginia’s historic Rotunda
Met UVA Director of Choral Activities, Michael Slon
Performed in UVA’s historic Old Cabell Hall
RBE students worked hard, fundraised, and patiently waited for this unforgettable experience—and it certainly delivered!

Last week, 26 students from Winfield High and 18 from Hurricane High traveled to Atlanta, GA to compete at the International Career & Development Conference. After earning 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place at the State level in March, our students went on to compete and present alongside more than 26,000 students, advisors, and professionals from around the globe!
They represented Putnam County with pride and returned home with valuable networking experiences and real‑world skills they can apply both in the classroom and the workplace. 👏
