🗓 Reminder: Putnam County Schools and PCS Central Office will be closed tomorrow, November 5th, for the 2024 General Election. Voters will find the Putnam School Bond Election Order on the ballot. The bond specifically calls for a new Hurricane Middle School and health and safety improvements to outdoor athletic facilities at Putnam Middle and High Schools. 🏫✨ 📢 Compared to the 2009 bond, the 2024 Putnam School Bond WILL NOT INCREASE TAX RATES. Learn more about the bond at putnamschools.com, and be sure to check out our Bond FAQ page, which is linked below! 💪📚 🔗 https://core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/1595/PCS/4896867/Putnam_Bond_FAQ.pdf #PutnamProud #BuildingOnExcellence

The bond will help PCS continue to provide the best for our students, from upgrading health & safety features to building a new state-of-the-art Hurricane Middle. 🏫✨ #PutnamProud #BuildingOnExcellence https://www.wsaz.com/2024/10/30/athletic-field-upgrades-new-school-ballot/

Our community has always valued excellence in education—now we have the opportunity to take that legacy even further by "Building on Excellence!" From upgrading health and safety features to building a new, modern, state-of-the-art Hurricane Middle School, the 2024 Putnam School Bond will help PCS continue to provide the best for our students. 🏫✨ Built in 1950, Hurricane Middle is overdue for replacement. The new state-of-the-art facility will be approximately 117,000 square feet and will be built adjacent to Hurricane High. The new middle school will include all standard classroom spaces, a media/STEM lab, competition gymnasium and locker rooms, commons and dining area, and music and band rooms with an auditorium. The exterior will include outdoor learning areas, facility and visitor parking, separate bus and parent drop-off/pick-up lanes, and a practice field designed for student activities and sports practice(s). The 2024 Putnam School Bond will not increase tax rates for Putnam County residents compared to the 2009 bond. In addition to a tax rate decrease, the Putnam County Board of Education requested the West Virginia School Building Authority contribute $25 million toward the new Hurricane Middle School — that would be almost half the total cost! This funding is contingent on the passage of the bond and the approval of the project by the WV SBA. You can find more info, including HMS renderings and FAQs, here 👉 putnamschools.com. Let's keep building a brighter, safer, and stronger future for our students—together! 💪📚 #PutnamProud #BuildingOnExcellence

Putnam County kicked off early voting last week. The 2024 Putnam School Bond is on the ballot. The bond calls for a new Hurricane Middle School and health and safety improvements to outdoor athletic facilities across the county! 🏫✨   Bond funds will address health and safety issues for outdoor athletic facilities, such as new field lighting and updated electrical systems. This will create more energy-efficient sites, reduce maintenance costs, and save significant dollars for county-wide academic and athletic needs.   It is also important to note that the 2024 Putnam School Bond will not increase tax rates for Putnam County residents compared to the 2009 bond, which funded new schools in Buffalo, Winfield, Poca, and Confidence. In fact, there will be a tax rate decrease!   You can find more information on the Putnam School Bond, including Frequently Asked Questions and Putnam County’s Early Voting Schedule, on putnamschools.com! Let’s keep building a brighter, safer, and stronger future for our students—together! 💪📚 #PutnamProud #BuildingOnExcellence
